THESE THINGS WILL HELP YOU PASS YOUR NEXT MATHS EXAM! (CHEAT CODES)

       Fractions, Decimals, and Percentages

Introduction

Hi, I'm Ray and last week we have been studying about Fractions, Decimals, and Percentages. We were asked to make a digital learning object to show our understanding. We also went to pairs to work together. We hade the rest of the week to work on it. We did ours on Venngage.

Digital Learning Object

Reflection

I was working with Peteli and I think I made a bad choice. He get's distracted easily but he just needs help to finish his work. The hardest part of it was how we can shorten our information to fit it in our infographic. We solved this by deciding to just make an infographic per topic. We were supposed to used Screencastify but nobody wanted to talk in front of the microphone so we had to change our D.L.O, Overall, this was a great experience because its a new way to represent your work instead of drawing it on a poster. Venngage was also a great website because they have a live chat. I talked to them and asked for a good template and they replied fast

Haoura - Te Whare Tapa Wha

We started looking at Hauora at the 8th of March. I've learned that the model "Te Whare Tapa Wha" is the Maori version of the 4 sections of your health. The 4 sections are Taha Tinana, Taha Hinengaro, Taha Wairua, Taha Whanau. The teacher asked the class to go into groups of 4 and make our own model of the house. The model of the house must include all the four walls and the meaning of Haoura in general

In our groups, we were challenged if we can work together with someone we don't normally sit with. This made me very nervous because I don't know them much and what their strengths are so I just began making the house. As I move on forward, They started volunteering and it was good that everyone volunteered. I think next time, we should talk to each other more. Overall our work output was pretty good compared to others,

Class Treaty and Smart Goals

A couple weeks ago in Health, we made our  class treaty. We made this together because our class needed to be on task and these were our guidelines.  Here is a photo of our Class Treaty

After this we made a "all about me cube" . This inculded our name, interests and a little bit about ourself. When I grow up I want to be an engineer. It also says about my strengths. It was difficult to share some information because some people in my class might judge what I wrote which can be verry offensive.

The next week we made a S.M.A.R.T goal. SMART stands for Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Time Bound. In order to make a good goal, this should meet the criteria ( SMART ). Here is my goal which I'm trying to achieve,

My Goal:
I want to be in less trouble than last year. by listening to the instructions as much as possible and follow the school rules.

S
I want to be in less trouble than last year.
Specific
M
Listen to instructions and follow the rules
My teachers and friends could give me feedback
A
Yes this is achievable
I can listen to instructions most of the time
R
This is realistic

T

The barriers I could have is my friends. They could distract me with my work and can cause me to talk alot.

Creating a good exposition for narrative writing

Last week, we have started looking at how to make a really good narrative. First, we learned how to make a good opening. One technique that I learned is "show don't tell". This means you are describing the thing but not really saying what it is. An example is " The lake shimmered from far away". Next, we had to make an interesting setting. This includes the place and time where all the things are happening. Here is paragraph I wrote that shows the setting.

Old ruins were the only buildings I could see. Tumbleweeds were all around the place rolling like a bowling ball. The wind was humid. It was dry and hardly any rain. The windows were all shut and most roofs are rusted. It feels like I’m the only person here but at night I hear the dragging of their foot across the sandy gravel.

After that, we know learned what characters are. There are two types of characters, a protagonist, and an antagonist. Today, we are now looking at the narrative arc. This is the body of the story.

If you have any tips on how to make a good narrative story, please tell me.

Interland & Digital Citizenship

Interland by Google

Introduction

Last week at DTE, we have started looking at Interland & Digital Citizenship. Interland is a game that was designed by Google. There are four levels we have to play and ake a descriptive paragraph about its content and design.

Digital Learning Object

You can find the game here

Reflection

There were four levels we had to play and each level teaches us different things. The Kind Kingdom teaches us how to spread as much kindness as possible to other people. Reality River gives questions about a scenario that you have to pick the best answer. This is good for decision making. Tower of treasures teaches us how to make a strong password that doesn't really relate to us. Mindful Mountain tells us which people we should share our things, like passwords, pictures etc. The characters of each game are very alike but not identical.  Some games a side-scroll and some games are not.  Overall the message of the game is fine but the graphics were bad. If you don't mind about the graphics but you're more into the content then I would suggest it to you.

Question

Do you think Google did the most they can do for their game?

The First Five Weeks Of Graphics Course

Hey there, one of the subjects I chose was DVC ( Design and Visual Communication ) hoping to improve my drawing skills. I learned how to correctly use instruments, rendering and using line techniques. There are 3 types of line that we use on DVC: construction line, final line, and an outline. I also learned how to choose colors that contrast to make my drawing look colorful. Here are my drawings that I have been working on for the past 5 weeks,

It was handy that we used the instruments because it was hard to make straight lines without a ruler. What can I do better next time? What did I do wrong? Please tell me in the comments
